Welcome to STEM for Youth at Iowa City West High.
Our mission is to empower youth from K-8 with interactive, hands-on STEM demonstrations to increase interest in science, research, engineering, and other areas.
Students at Iowa City West High School will conduct STEM programs, through leading demonstrations to students at ICCSD elementary schools. Volunteer hours will be distributed.

Programs
STEM for Youth (SFY) programs will be offered in three areas: STEM education, research guidance, and engineering. Selected curriculum will vary from program to program.

STEM Exposure
STEM exposure programs range from Hour of Code to physics experiments, covering a variety of disciplines in STEM. Guest speakers will also be invited to speak on occasion.

Research Guidance
Introductory demonstrations to research will be provided. Guest speakers and student researchers will also share research experiences, providing insight on starting independent research.

Engineering
Hands-on engineering programs will cover topics ranging from Micro:bit to robotics and even rocketry.
